Barre is a form of physical exercise, usually conducted in group classes in gyms or specialty studios. Barre classes focus on the lower body, developing strength and flexibility from the
ankles up though the calves, knees, thighs, and glutes.
Benefits of Barre
- improved flexibility
- increased muscle strength and tone, particularly of your abdominal muscles, lower back, hips and buttocks (the ‘core muscles’ of your body)
- balanced muscular strength on both sides of your body
- improved posture
- reduce stress
- improved physical coordination and balance
- Class Level: All levels
- Props: Chair
- Camera On Policy: We require all students to have their camera ON for the duration of class. This is for a few reasons: for your safety, for the teacher to be able to teach clearly, and for the integrity of the class. This also ensures that our classes are a safe environment for all students!
About Your Instructor: Cassidy
I’ve always found healing powers in movement of the body. Growing up a classical dancer, I find yoga and barre to be a way to tie together body and soul. I completed my 200-hour Yoga-Teacher certification at Flow Yoga in DC and did an apprenticeship with Ease Yoga in Alexandria. I received my barre certification at Lava Barre.
I believe in connecting with my students and believe in developing well thought out sequences. My classes are a combination of asanas, meditation, pranayama and intention setting.
